What Is Verre Églomisé?

The term verre églomisé refers to the traditional technique of decorating the reverse side of glass with metal leaf, traditionally gold or silver.

The design is created on the back of the glass, meaning that when viewed from the front, the gilded surface is protected behind the glass. This creates a remarkable visual effect: the metal leaf appears suspended within the glass, producing a richness and depth that cannot be achieved with conventional painted finishes.
